Fantastic book, fantastic narration
Firstly, Kate Reading is just amazing in her narration of this book. Of the many audiobooks I've heard over the years, this is the first by her, and is easily the best narration I've ever heard. Her voice is full of subtle, genuine inflections; never on autopilot, and remains that way for the duration of the book. I'll be keeping my eye out for anything by Kate Reading from now on. Just wonderful !!
I didn't know what to expect from this audiobook. There are lots of things I know about Jesus, from years of praying, reading the bible and listening to sermons, but I think what I was hoping for from this audiobook was a fresh perspective - something that would take me into the culture and ambience of the world Jesus lived in. That is exactly what I got.
I am so pleased with this book. It is fresh, vivid, colourful and never boring, and in spite of many years of study, it had many, many new things to tell me.
The combination of Charles Swindoll's writing and Kate Reading's narration is a match made in heaven. This audiobook is one of those rare times where everything works together in harmony. (Posted on 2/5/11)
